Theme 3 ~ Our Community

During the month of November, our class explored the theme of “Our Community.” We explored ideas about places in the community, people in the community, transportation, and taking care of the environment!
The goal of this theme was to have children develop responsibility in their daily lives while learning good citizenship.  Take a peek at some of the fun we had with the "Our Community" theme!

We learned about maps and how they help us make a plan to get from one spot to another spot. We drove cars to different destinations, such as the hospital, car wash, police station, school, etc., and discussed our experiences with each in the town of Franklin! It took careful planning to decide which roads would take us to our destination.

Our map got lots of use during center time, too!

Our Dramatic Play area was very busy with our Firefighters and Police Officers!

Firefighters waiting for a call...working on some puzzles to pass the time! :)

We got a call...let's go team!!!

We used cars from our community to make art!

One of our favorite activities was making a GIANT map of the community! It was a big team effort!

Of course, we also worked with play dough to help strengthen our hands and fingers.

And, we practiced our balancing skills while we sorted community helper tools.

We worked together to use the car ramp.

We played Memory with Miss Diane.

And we practiced our cutting skills with Miss Kelly at the Art table.

We also learned how to weave! Weaving with a partner is very tricky!

We read some great books too!

These were some of our favorites!

We were thrilled that so many families could join us for our gingerbread party! As you could see, the room was FILLED with excitement! We hope everyone has had a restful vacation and we look forward to more preschool fun in 2019!

Our new Nature All Around Us theme began with a walk around our school to search for signs of Spring! We found lots of signs that things are...
